One other thing I thought of, I run my PS4 Pro on my PC monitor and the sound as a loop-back through my PC via my monitor's headphone-jack. Nowadays I use a Steelseries Arcwireless headset which has a dedicated USB sound-card and comes with a DTS: Headphone X v2 license so I wouldn't miss CMSS 3D aslong as I atleast get my speaker-fill for music. With my old headset I tried to use CMSS 3D but could never figure it out how to properly utilize it as it was running through the optical-out of the X-Fi. I do use CMSS although only to stereo-copy Youtube and music to the rear-speakers, would that still work or is "Speaker Fill" fully gone without CMSS? Thanks for the reply! My usecase would be purely driving my existing 5.1 speaker-set. Titanium HD being great for headphones, Fatality if you plan on using 5.1 speakers. If you’re that nervous about the card you could always get a solid X-Fi card used that uses a PCI x1 slot, such as the Titanium HD or the Fatality. The biggest thing here is your audio experience with your new card might not necessarily be better, just different. The quality of components has definitely improved since your SB X-Fi Extreme Gamer days. Having said that if you don’t use that tech, you won’t be missing out on too much. As a backup to my X-Fi Elite Pro, I purchased an X-Fi 5.1 Surround USB which I believe is one of the only, if not the only, usb cards that have CMSS 3D. I’m not sure about the Omni, but if it offers SBX rather than CMSS 3D it will definitely be a different experience (I didn’t like it much myself). Biggest thing I’d ask is what are you using it for, and what features do you use most? Many people like myself like the old X-Fi cards because they still utilize CMSS 3D for their simulated surround with headphones.
